What is the price of a dental filling?

Table of Contents

Dental filling -also known by the name obturation- is a treatment that aims to combat cavities in a tooth.

As relevant data, we can contribute that the filling is one of the most common procedures of all those that are carried out in the dentist’s office.

This fact is due, in turn, to the fact that caries is the most frequent oral disease among the population.

And, as if this were not enough, it is also the second most common general pathology, behind the cold.

Given the high incidence of caries in our society, people are interested in knowing all the information and details about the treatment to combat it.

And how could it be otherwise? One of the issues that arouse the most interest is the price of dental fillings.

Therefore, we will see how much this treatment costs in the next section.

I have to do a filling: what is its price?

As you well know, each dental clinic has the freedom to set the price of its dental fillings, as is the case with any other dental treatment.

In the case of our center, the cost of the dental filling is 85 euros, an amount that is, on average, the prices offered by the rest of the dental clinics in Madrid.

Once you know the price of a dental filling, we are going to reveal two interesting questions in the following sections.

First of all, we will tell you what you should look at -in addition to the price- to decide which dentist is the most suitable to perform the treatment.

Secondly, we will tell you what elements we rely on in our dental clinic to set the amount that we have mentioned above.

Although it may seem like a simple treatment, the truth is that a poorly executed filling can cause many problems.

Is dental filling an important treatment?

At Ferrus&Bratos, we base the cost of the filling on different factors that are fundamentally related to the success of the treatment.

And is that, by some people, a dental filling is perceived as a simple, straightforward treatment that does not carry much value

However, we are in a position to affirm that this idea is incorrect and may entail a certain “danger” to oral health.

That said, it is true that, as a general rule, a dental filling can be a simpler treatment than a root canal.

DENTAL INSTRUMENTS

Endodontics is a procedure that, like filling, aims to eliminate a cavity.

However, the filling treats more incipient or early-stage cavities.

For its part, endodontics deals with advanced cavities that have caused greater damage to the tooth.

However, this fact cannot lead to the conclusion that the filling is a simple treatment that can be carried out by any dentist with the same success.

And it is that an incorrectly executed filling leads, in many cases, to repeating the treatment – since it is not resistant in the long term – or in need to have a root canal done.

Once the above has been explained, in the next section, we are going to reveal all the important factors when deciding where to get your dental filling done.

And that, in this way, you can value -in addition to the price- another series of equally important elements.

What does the price of a filling depend on?

As we have previously anticipated, the success of the filling depends, fundamentally, on two issues.

The first is that it offers a long-term result.

And the second is that the tooth on which it has been done does not need to be treated again -either with another filling or with an endodontic-.

Therefore, below we are going to tell you what type of elements we recommend you look at when deciding who the dentist who is going to carry out your treatment is.

Experience and degree of specialization in the professional

You can find out if the dentist performs only this treatment and other similar ones -endodontics, reconstructions…- or if he carries out all kinds of procedures.

In addition, we advise you to inquire about the dentist’s training. For example: if you have simply studied Dentistry or have also completed a master’s degree to specialize.

Keep in mind that it is generally best to have your treatment performed by a dentist who is as specialized as possible in dental fillings and who has done a large number of fillings.

Technique and materials used during the procedure

One of the most used materials to make a dental filling is composite. As with many other products, there are different ranges and qualities of composite.

For example, a low dental filling price can put us on the track that the materials used do not meet high-quality standards.

And, over time, this can translate into low durability and the filling falling out.

Technology to facilitate fillings

The aesthetic result of the treatment

Continuing with the previous example, low-quality composites do not have a wide variety of shades either.

This means that, in the event that the filling is made in a visible tooth, the difference between the color of the composite and that of the patient’s tooth can be appreciated.

Evaluate other factors

Don’t make a decision about where to get a dental filling based on price alone. Assess who is the professional is going to treat you, the materials that are going to be used, and the guarantees that are going to be given to you.

  1. Long term guarantee

As we have pointed out on several occasions, the duration of long-term treatment is a determining aspect.

And it is that, in addition to how uncomfortable it is to return to the dentist to treat the same tooth again, this new procedure usually entails an economic outlay.

Therefore, we recommend that you find out about the warranty periods offered by the dental clinic where you are going to treat yourself.

We have just put at your disposal a brief summary of the four elements to take into account when choosing a dentist.

If you want to know more details about the mentioned elements, we recommend you read our extensive article about dental fillings

In it, we break down all the information about the factors that we recommend you look at when deciding in which dental clinic you are going to perform the treatment.

And, of course, we tell you what guarantees you can expect from our clinic.

Once you have read the article, you will have much more information to make the best possible decision for your oral health.
