Immigration to Canada as a Self-Employed Person
Table of Contents

Canada is becoming a popular destination for people wanting to immigrate and settle there. The quality of life, education system, and working conditions are some factors that make it one of the most popular countries. It is not only an excellent opportunity for those who have job offers from Canadian companies but even those who wish to start their businesses or be self-employed. The British Columbia PNP program and the self-employed Persons Program, etc., can help you in this direction.

Canadian Business Immigration Programs:

Businesspersons can go to Canada to start businesses. Such individuals can apply for a Canadian PR under the program if they have business experience and the required net worth. There are four sub-categories for the Canadian Business Immigration Program:

  • Province Nominee Program (PNP) Business Programs

Generally, entrepreneurs and the self-employed immigration programs are for individuals with a mid-range personal net worth who intend to set up and operate a business in Canada. Canada Immigration Consultants in India will guide you through applying for the self-employed program.

British Columbia Business Immigration Programs:

Business immigrants can apply to BC PNP in any of the three ways as per the criteria they meet:

  1. Entrepreneur Immigration
  2. Regional Pilot Entrepreneur Immigration
  3. Strategic Projects Stream

 Let us discuss these streams.

Entrepreneur Immigration Stream:

This is one of the streams of the Entrepreneur Stream of the British Columbia PNP. Individuals, who want to migrate to Canada and find a permanent residence and start up an innovative business that boosts the economic growth within British Columbia, can apply to this program.

Business owners looking to invest in a BC business can apply. Their application will be judged based on their selection criteria qualifications. They will then receive a letter of support from the Canadian government. Based on this letter, the applicants need to submit another application to the Canadian Immigration department to get a two-year work permit.

Entrepreneur Immigration under Regional Pilot Stream:

If you are a passionate and experienced entrepreneur who wishes to set up businesses in various small British Columbia communities, you can apply under the Regional Pilot Stream. The applicant needs to:

  • Contribute to the specific labour needs of the communities in BC,
  • Meet the selection criteria for both applicants and communities.

Strategic Projects Stream:

If you are a foreign entrepreneur wanting to set up a business, operating facility, corporate headquarters, or branch office in British Columbia, you can apply under this scheme of the BC PNP.

Conclusion:

Interested candidates can contact the Canada Immigration Consultants in India for a detailed guideline to the application process. They need to give their biometrics, get the application package, pay the application fees, and submit their application along with the related documents asked. It has to be kept in mind that the application may get rejected as well, but applicants can fix the errors and resubmit them.
